We are seeking a strategic Procurement Lead here at X. This high-impact role will be responsible for driving the company's procurement and sourcing initiatives, lead contract and deal negotiations, and establish a clear and efficient process for the business to operate with financial rigor while making smart and impactful decisions.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and finance operations, and be able to confidently negotiate a wide array of deals and contracts. It will report to the CFO, work in tandem with the FP&A team and be a key lead on the team and provide mentorship to other members on the team. It will require a sharp and creative mind to find opportunities for better rates, cost savings, and renegotiations, all while maintaining strong relationships with our vendors and external partners.What you'll do:Manage the Procurement function and provide leadership and mentorship to the team.Lead the Procurement and Purchasing processes globally and find improvements and efficienciesDevise strategy for longer term impact of sourcing on the company, including identifying tech stack improvements and cost savings opportunitiesEnsure X's purchasing systems operate reliably and correctly on a daily basis, including oversight/trouble-shooting of issues, identification and remediation of failures, and ensuring adequate testingLead the assessment of vendors and providers to ensure X is working with strong partners, and getting competitive rates.Work closely with our legal team on contract terms, privacy and security requirements, and verbiage.Provide regular and concise updates to CFO and leadership staff on deal status, progress, and savings.RequirementsBS/BA or equivalent in business or related field, MBA and/or professional certification a plus.7-10 years experience managing procurement processes and systems at an expert levelExcellent negotiations skills and ability to optimize for outcomes as well as come up with creative solutionsExcellent people management skills. Deep knowledge of the entire procure-to-pay process, including workflows and fiduciary requirements.Experience deploying and managing procurement systems projects, preferably including supplier catalogs.Experience in running a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Very detail-oriented. Very organized.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
