Job Description Small animal and exotics hospital in Roseville, California seeking a Medical Director with significant exotic medicine experience. This is a full time leadership role with no weekends, no on call, and no after hours emergencies. This is a 3.5 doctor practice with an approximately 50 percent exotics caseload. The exotic work is not occasional. It is built into the identity of the hospital and includes small mammals, parrots, reptiles, raptors, and wildlife. There is an established falconry client base with consistent demand. Dogs and cats are part of the caseload, but exotic species are seen daily and require confident handling, diagnostics, and surgical decision making. The facility is spacious and well equipped. There are five exam rooms, a double surgical suite, a four sink treatment area, species specific wards, digital and dental radiology, ultrasound, rigid endoscopy, and a comprehensive in house laboratory. The EMR is cloud based and accessible remotely if needed. Secondary and tertiary referral centers are nearby, but most cases are worked up and managed in house when appropriate. The Medical Director maintains an active caseload while overseeing medical standards and clinical consistency. This includes guiding case management across species, supporting associate doctors, setting surgical and anesthesia protocols, and ensuring appropriate workups for complex exotic cases. The leadership structure provides administrative support, but medical decisions remain with the DVM team. There is room to shape how exotics medicine continues to develop within the practice.
